National Defense Authorization Act for FY2019 (Section 889)
The John S. McCain National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2019 (NDAA) is a United States federal law which specifies the budget, expenditures, and policies of the U.S. Department of Defense. The NDAA 2019 Section 889 prohibits the U.S. government and its contractors from using or providing to the Government any equipment, system, or service that uses covered telecommunications equipment or services, as more specifically described in Federal Acquisition Regulation clause 52.204-25, “Prohibition on Contracting for Certain Telecommunications and Video Surveillance Services or Equipment.”
NDAA 2019 Section 889 is focused on video surveillance equipment and telecommunications equipment. It does not impact other areas of security.
